A new client must use the buddy system for the first
seven (7) days of residence. A senior client will
be assigned to each new client for assistance. The
new client is not to leave the unit during this time,
unless accompanied by a senior client.
Sexually explicit pictures, magazines, reading materials,
movies, clothing or assorted equipment is not allowed
at Kinnic Falls.
No one should enter anyones office without
that person being there, including the Unit Specialist
and Business Office. If the door is closed, please
knock first.
Clients behaviors and personal hygiene are
to be such that they prevent exposure of others to
infectious disease. Health information is provided
through periodic lectures given by the Medical Director
and pamphlets available in the literature rack. Good
health and hygiene practices promote self-respect
and are important in socialization and prevention
of disease.
Clients are to keep themselves, their clothes, and
immediate living area neat and clean, in addition
to assigned therapeutic detail. The staff reserves
the right to inspect all areas of the facility.
All clients are to be up and have beds made by 8:00
a.m., unless other arrangements are made with the
staff.
Everyone is to sign out when leaving the unit. This
is a personal responsibility providing for emergency
purposes as well as a courtesy to others in the facility.
No client may sign for another.
Employment is an integrated part of the Program,
and all clients are expected to report for job duties
as assigned by counselor or staff.
Personal TVs are not permitted.
No cell phones, picture phones, computers, portable
DVD players, or hand-held electronic games are allowed.
Radios should be played at reasonable sound levels
and must be turned off by 10:30 p.m.
Lights are to be turned off by curfew.
Clients are not to nap/lie on bed without counselor/staff
permission.
Clients are not to interchange wardrobe or dresser
drawers when changing rooms or when a roommate is
discharged. Keep the assigned bed.
Clients shall provide their own bath and laundry
soap. Coin-operated washing machines and dryers are
located in the laundry room (lower level).
Clients are to shower and clean up before curfew.
Clients must be clothed or wearing appropriate bathrobes
going to and from their shower. Please leave the shower
area clean when you have finished.
All clients are expected to wear appropriate clothing.
Shoes and shirts must be worn in common areas and
dining room. Clothing that is associated with using
behaviors or that is sexually revealing is not permitted.
Major decisions during residence are to be discussed
with a counselor prior to taking action. These would
include purchases such as an automobile, starting
or quitting employments, obtaining a loan, etc.
Provisions will be made for bag lunches or the holding
of meals if this is necessary due to work schedules
or other approved reasons. Main meals are to be eaten
in the dining room. Food and dishes are not to be
taken from the dining area.
There are some places and activities associated with
past drinking or using that are inappropriate for
newly recovering people. These include bars or lounges
that serve alcohol, some concerts, parties, etc. If
there is a question, discuss with a counselor.
Each client who wishes to have a car at Kinnic Falls
must abide by the following conditions:
- Clients must have consent from their assigned
counselor;
- Clients must be insured and licensed legally,
and abide by Wisconsin State laws;
- Clients must park their cars in the designated
parking area.
Failure to comply with the program expectations,
responsibilities and restrictions may result in consequences.
These could range from a verbal reminder to take corrective
action to loss of a privilege. Abuse of a privilege
would be disciplined by the assignment of an extra
house duty such as washing dishes for not being up
and having the bed made by 8:00 a.m.
Continued disregard for program expectations, responsibilities
and restrictions will result in a staff review and
could be cause for termination from the program.
