KINNIC FALLS, IN CONTINUOUS OPERATION SINCE 1973,
DERIVES ITS NAME FROM THE SCENIC KINNICKINNIC RIVER
WHICH MEANDERS THROUGH THE PEACEFUL, FRIENDLY COMMUNITY
OF RIVER FALLS, WISCONSIN.
Kinnic Falls is located in River Fallsa rural,
university town of approximately 13,000 people in
west-central Wisconsin. The facility can be found
in a residential neighborhood adjacent to the 6,000-student
university. The twin cities of St. Paul-Minneapolis
are a short drive away (30-40 miles) and are easily
accessible via four-lane highways.
Kinnic Falls
centers its program on the principles of Alcoholics
Anonymous with an emphasis on personal honesty and
responsibility. Comprehensive counseling includes
individual and group therapy as well as assistance
with psychological, spiritual, vocational and educational
issues. Guidance with concerns such as relationship-building,
homelessness, and multiple addictions is offered while
concentrating on sustained recovery during this stage
when clients are vulnerable to relapse. The program
is certified by the Wisconsin Department of Health
and Social Services. The average length of stay in
the facility is three months.
In addition
to the daily AA, 12-step, and personal growth programs
available, Kinnic Falls encourages networking with
alumni role models and provides referral services
to other resources in the supportive Twin Cities and
western Wisconsin regions.
Kinnic
Falls clients are referred and accepted from primary
treatment centers nationwide. Admission is made without
regard to race, color, national origin, sex, age,
religion or disability. Cost of care is the responsibility
of the client, but may be arranged through Wisconsin
Unified Services Boards, the Minnesota Consolidated
Fund (Rule 25), VA Medical Centers in Minnesota and
Wisconsin, private insurance, employee assistance
programs, or self payment.
